Bangalore Day 1 Experience – Metro, Food, Bike Rental & Travel Tips

Bangalore Travel Day 1 – Metro, Bike Rental, Food & Real Experience

Our Bangalore trip started on a slightly chaotic note. Thanks to a 2-hour train delay, we reached the city around 6 PM instead of the planned 4 PM. Frustration levels? High. Hunger levels? Even higher.

To make matters worse, we had some interesting (annoying) co-passengers on the train. Picture this: a family munching nonstop like they hadn’t eaten in a month, along with hyperactive kids who somehow found endless ways to entertain—or irritate—everyone around them.

🚉 Arrival in Bangalore – First Impressions

Despite the delay and chaos, there was still excitement as we finally arrived in Bangalore. Instead of opting for expensive cabs or autos, we decided to take the metro to save both time and money.

🚇 Metro Travel from Yeshwantpur to Lalbagh

We took the metro from Yeshwantpur to Lalbagh, which cost ₹33 per person, along with an unexpected ₹30 luggage charge.

The journey took around 30 minutes and was honestly a smart choice considering Bangalore traffic. After getting down at Lalbagh station, we grabbed a quick snack—veg puff and a roll—right outside to calm our hunger.

🚖 Reaching the Hotel

From Lalbagh, we took an auto to our hotel, which was about 15 minutes away and cost ₹60. Not too bad, especially compared to what cabs might have charged.

After checking in, we freshened up, hydrated properly (lesson from the train!), and got ready to head out again.

🛵 Renting a Scooty in Bangalore

To explore the city conveniently, we decided to rent a scooty instead of depending on cabs. Luckily, we found a rental shop nearby and got a scooty for ₹600 for 24 hours.

After a quick fuel stop, we were all set to explore Bangalore on our own terms.

🍽️ Dinner at Nagarjuna – Worth the Hype?

Our first stop was MG Road, where we planned dinner at Nagarjuna, a place well-known for its thalis.

Getting there wasn’t easy though—Bangalore traffic, one-way roads, and constant jams really tested our patience. But the thought of good food kept us going.

Once we reached, there was a bit of waiting, but we eventually got a table. The thali was exactly what we hoped for—rice, papad, pickle, three types of vegetables, curry, rasam, sambhar, curd, and even a sweet dish.

While I could only manage one serving of rice, the flavors were absolutely satisfying.

🍩 Dessert Stop at Glen’s Bakehouse

After dinner, we couldn’t resist stopping for dessert. We headed to Glen’s Bakehouse and tried their donuts and cupcakes—both were absolutely divine and the perfect way to end the day.

🌙 Wrapping Up the Day

With our cravings satisfied and exhaustion finally catching up, we headed back to the hotel and called it a night.

Despite the chaotic start, the day turned out to be quite fulfilling—and we were excited for the adventures waiting for us in Bangalore.

💡 Tips for Bangalore Travel (Day 1 Learnings)

If you’re planning your Bangalore trip, here are a few useful tips from our experience:

  • Use the metro to save time and money

  • Expect traffic, especially around MG Road

  • Renting a scooty can be very convenient

  • Keep snacks handy if your journey gets delayed

  • Always carry enough water

🎯 Final Thoughts

Even though our first day didn’t go exactly as planned, it still turned into a memorable experience filled with good food, small learnings, and a lot of excitement for what was ahead.

Time to go back, Spent half day in Kolhapur 29 March 2024

Our Malvan trip ends here. We had breakfast and then headed to Kolhapur, and later Pune. Initially, we had a train scheduled for the night from Kolhapur to Pune, but it got cancelled. Therefore, we decided to stay in Kolhapur for a day. Since there were no buses available directly from Malvan to Kolhapur, we opted to go to Kankavli first, where we could find buses to Kolhapur. We arrived in Kolhapur in the afternoon, checked into the hotel, freshened up, ordered misal, which we thought would be spicy but turned out to be good, and then proceeded straight to the Mahalaxmi Mandir. Due to it being Friday, there was a large crowd, and we ended up waiting in line for about 20-30 minutes. After having our darshan, we returned to the hotel as it was already 8pm. We had a light dinner at the hotel and then went to sleep, as our bodies needed to recharge after thoroughly enjoying our time in Malvan. Xoxo ❤️  Gujjugirl

A Cozy Night at Si Nonna’s: Pizza, Croquettes, and a Surprisingly Heartwarming Gelato

Recently, I visited Si Nonna’s again. I hadn’t planned on going back, but it just happened. It was a very cold night, and I was craving pizza, so we decided to go there. This time, we ordered pizza number 4, which consisted of fior di latte mozzarella, ricotta cheese, blue cheese, aged parmesan, homemade jalapeño salsa, homemade cherry tomato confit, fresh basil, and EVOO. We also ordered mozzarella and jalapeño croquettes. First, the croquettes arrived. They were okay, but not great. The filling was small, and there wasn’t enough of it, so I wasn’t particularly impressed. Then, our pizza came. We added a little more olive oil and tried to do a cheese pull, but it didn’t work out as expected. However, the taste of the pizza was really good — flavorful and satisfying. Although we were pretty full, there’s always room for dessert, right? I saw gelato and decided to try some. I ordered Sicilian pistachio gelato. It turned out to be delicious — so tasty from the very first bite. I stil...
