Trains, Traffic, and Thalis: Our Eventful First Day in Bangalore

Our Bangalore trip started on a slightly chaotic note. Thanks to a 2-hour train delay, we reached the city around 6 PM instead of the planned 4 PM. Frustration levels? High. Hunger levels? Even higher. To make matters worse, we had some interesting (read: annoying) co-passengers on the train. Picture this: a family munching nonstop like they hadn’t eaten in a month, accompanied by hyperactive kids who found endless ways to entertain (or irritate) us. When we finally reached Bangalore, we decided to skip cabs and autos (hello, exorbitant fares!) and took the metro instead to save both time and money. The metro ride from Yeshwantpur to Lalbagh set us back ₹33 per person, plus an extra ₹30 as a luggage penalty—unexpected, but okay. After a quick snack of a veg puff and roll outside the metro station to quiet our growling stomachs, we were on our way. The metro ride took about 30 minutes, and from Lalbagh station, we hopped into an auto to reach our hotel, which was 15 minutes away and co...

Food, Films, and a Dash of Chaos: Our Journey to Bangalore Begins!

Today marked the start of our journey to Bangalore, though the actual trip kicks off tomorrow. With our train from Pune Junction scheduled for 8:30 PM, we had a full day to kill. Naturally, we decided to make the most of it by indulging in good food, catching a movie, and simply enjoying some quality time together. We kicked things off with lunch at  Mandala Hotpot ,  where we treated ourselves to some delicious Korean hotpot. The flavors were on point, and the portion size was generous enough to leave us completely stuffed. It took us nearly two hours to finish (totally worth it), and with our bellies happy, we decided to head to the movies. The nearest theatre had shows running mostly for  Pushpa 2 , which we’d already seen, so we opted for Mufasa . But here’s the catch—the show wasn’t until 3  PM, and we had a two-hour wait ahead of us. Since the mall didn’t have any proper seating areas, we wandered downstairs and found a spot at McDonald’s to...

Karjat Diaries: How an Airbnb Scam Ruined My Trip

After Ganpati Visarjan, we decided to go somewhere but weren’t sure where, as we wanted to travel on a budget. We settled on Karjat for a day or two, but it turned out to be just okay, and both of us ended up falling ill. Early morning on September 19th, we headed to Swargate Bus Stand in Pune and decided to catch a bus to Karjat. Since there were no direct buses, we planned to go to Panvel or Kalamboli and then take a train or another bus to Karjat, as it was nearby. Around 7 a.m., we found a bus and began our journey. By 10 a.m., we reached Panvel, where we discovered the next bus to Karjat wouldn’t arrive until 11 a.m. With nothing else to do, we passed the time listening to music. Finally, around 1 p.m., we arrived at the Karjat bus stand, only to find that the Airbnb we booked was actually 25 km away! We were shocked because the listing showed it was close, as posted by the owner. Since we’d already paid and couldn’t cancel, we had no choice but to go. We contacted the host, wh...

How we spent one day in Amritsar| Exploring Amritsar in just one day| Unforgettable Amritsar

Discovered the best of Amritsar in just a day 😀 We woke up and got ready to explore Amritsar on foot. Our first stop was Gian di Lassi, a very old and famous lassi shop, where we tried their pedha lassi. It was so filling that we decided to skip breakfast and head straight to lunch. After that, we visited the Partition Museum, which was a thrilling experience that gave us goosebumps. The visit was so moving that I could barely hold back my tears. Next, we decided to do some shopping, where we bought traditional suits and juttis. Later, we had lunch at Rang Punjab, which was delicious, though we struggled to finish it because we had ordered too much. After lunch, we decided to visit the Wagah Border, which is about 30 km from Amritsar. We took an auto for ₹100 each and sat in the back. We reached around 4:30-5:00 pm, and the ceremony was set to start around 6:00 pm. However, due to the crowd, it's important to arrive early. We had so much fun watching the incredible patriotism of t...

Everything I did on my Birthdaaayyy!!!! 17April’24

I celebrated my birthday at night by cutting a cake, having fun, and enjoying a delicious strawberry and chocolate cake. Later, the lights went out, making the night even more memorable.  The next morning, we got ready and headed to Phoenix Mall of the Millennium in Wakad, which is larger than other malls and had been on my list for a while. We arrived around 11:30, and the one-way trip cost us around 350 rupees.  Upon arrival, we went to Timezone, where we played lots of games and went bowling. I even won two soft toys, one of which I named Pab. I now have over 10,000 points on my card, which I plan to redeem next time since there weren't many options available at Timezone this time. Later, we went to Mainland China because we were famished. We enjoyed ramen🍜  and lotus root, both of which were delicious and satisfying. Despite eating relatively little, we felt full due to the heat and drank plenty of water.  Afterwards, we visited the food zone but didn't eat anyt...

Going back home, 30 March 2024

We woke up around 8 as we had a bus to Pune around 9-10, but we couldn't take the AC buses due to my cough, which made me feel sad for Bubbles. We had complimentary breakfast at the hotel, which included options like bread with butter and jam, poha, khichadi, and tea/coffee. Since I had a cough, I didn't eat anything but had some hot water instead. After breakfast, we checked out and went to the bus stand, where we found many buses heading to Pune. We slept for most of the journey and reached Pune around 4pm. After reaching home, we didn't do much except sleep. Xoxo 💓 Gujjugirl

Time to go back, Spent half day in Kolhapur 29 March 2024

Our Malvan trip ends here. We had breakfast and then headed to Kolhapur, and later Pune. Initially, we had a train scheduled for the night from Kolhapur to Pune, but it got cancelled. Therefore, we decided to stay in Kolhapur for a day. Since there were no buses available directly from Malvan to Kolhapur, we opted to go to Kankavli first, where we could find buses to Kolhapur. We arrived in Kolhapur in the afternoon, checked into the hotel, freshened up, ordered misal, which we thought would be spicy but turned out to be good, and then proceeded straight to the Mahalaxmi Mandir. Due to it being Friday, there was a large crowd, and we ended up waiting in line for about 20-30 minutes. After having our darshan, we returned to the hotel as it was already 8pm. We had a light dinner at the hotel and then went to sleep, as our bodies needed to recharge after thoroughly enjoying our time in Malvan. Xoxo ❤️  Gujjugirl

Did water activities in Malvan, 28 March 2024

Today was our last day in Malvan, so we decided to indulge in water sports. We headed to Chivla Beach in the morning around 7:15 after pre-booking the activities the previous night. Although it was past 7, the sun had yet to appear. We boarded the boat and were taken to see dolphins, spotting only a few. Later, we visited a very small island covered in shells and collected some as souvenirs. Our guides shared stories about other small islands we saw, which are now just broken stones. By 9 am, we returned to the hotel, had breakfast, and changed into our swimwear for the water activities. Back at Chivla Beach, we experienced scuba diving for the first time. The water was clean and calm, providing an enjoyable experience. However, we couldn't dive together as it wasn't allowed. We were provided video clips of our diving experience, featuring small, cute fishes. Next, we tried parasailing, with me opting for a deeper experience while bubbles kept it simple due to fear(Jk). Some p...

Visited Sindhudurg fort, 27 March 2024

We woke up early and had breakfast at the hotel. The breakfast was the same as yesterday, but this time we had tea. We had decided to go out and explore the remaining places. Well, there are lots of places to visit in Malvan. We went to the beach to reach Sindhudurg Fort by jetty. However, the jetty started when all the seats were full. The jetty cost us almost 140rs for two people. It took us almost 10-15 minutes to reach the fort, and from there, they told us that we would have one hour to roam around and come back to the jetty. As we went inside, there was one more ticket counter charging 5rs per person for entry to the fort. Later, we tried kaju sarbat for the first time, but it tasted more like lemon and amla. The fort is very big and is located between the beach. We walked on the walls of the fort and heard the sound of water touching the fort; it was an overall good experience, but the heat was overwhelming. There are temples as well as many shops to grab snacks inside the fort...

Day 2 of Malvan, 26 March 2024

. Woke up early in the morning 🌄as we planned to go out and do sightseeing. We woke up around 8-9 and had breakfast. For breakfast, we had poha and amboli with coconut chutney. They also had egg omelette, but we dont eat non-veg, so we didn't have that. I ate this type of amboli for the first time in Malvan. My nani makes it in a different way. It’s made of rice batter, easy to digest, and delicious. We also had coffee. Then we went to have a bath, but after that, we both had a huge fight because of some stupid stuff, which hurt my ego, and I wasn’t talking to him. So the hours in between were spent watching 📺 TV, sitting in the room. Now it was almost 1, and I was feeling hungry, so I decided to get ready and go out to have lunch, but he, the monkey(bubbles), followed me there as well. I was upset, angry, and wanted to laugh, but stayed silent. Then we decided that we would go to Atithi Bamboo to have lunch, but as we reached there, we found out it was closed for the day. So we ...

Finally, we are in Malvan 25 march 2024

Early in the morning, we reached Kolhapur around 5:30-5:45 am and went to the bus station, catching the first bus to Malvan at 6:30. The distance from the railway station to the bus station is only about 1.5 km, but the auto driver charged us 40 rupees because it was morning. Actually, the bus was scheduled for 6 am, but it got delayed reaching the Kolhapur bus station, so we had no choice but to wait. We arrived in Malvan around 11:30 am. We had pre-booked Hotel Aishwarya for 4 nights, which cost us only 7500 rupees, including breakfast. Since our check-in was at 12, we waited in the lobby, where they served us refreshments and a welcome drink, kokum sarbat. After checking in, the first thing we did was freshen up and get ready for lunch, as it was already 1 o'clock. We quickly rented a bike and headed to a nearby restaurant, Hotel Chaitanya, known for its seafood and also serving vegetarian thali. So, we ordered two Vegetarian thali's. However, the service was so slow that we...

Enjoying the day before the trip to Malvan (24 march 2024)

Today, we are going to Kolhapur at night by train because we have plans for Malvan, but before that, we are going to spend a day in Pune. However, as usual, my boy was late to wake up, which made us late in Pune. Consequently, our BBQ reservation got cancelled, and I was upset because I had been wanting to eat BBQ for a long time. Nevertheless, he arrived by 1:30, and then we went directly to watch the movie 'Madgaon Express'🎥, which was funny and humorous. Well, we had planned two movies for the day, as we didn't know what else to do for the whole day. The next show was at 6 pm. So, now the problem was that since he got late, we hadn't had lunch, and both of us were very hungry. Luckily, we had an hour before the second movie started, so we went to Si Nonna's for the first time to have some pizza. Initially, we thought of having roti sabzi, but I was not in the mood for that, so I persuaded him😀😀.  Upon entering Nonna's, we checked the menu and didn't un...
