Three Days of Simple Living | Food, Family & Finding Balance
The past three days have been a mix of routines, good food, work, and little reminders that life doesn't always have to be exciting to be meaningful.
My mornings have been fairly consistent lately. Early wake-ups, walks, workouts, reading, and trying to stay away from my phone for the first few hours of the day. I've noticed that when I start my mornings slowly, the rest of the day feels less chaotic.
One thing I'm trying to work on is my diet.
For breakfast one day, I had a two-egg omelette with sugar-free black tea. I'm slowly trying to reduce sugar from my daily routine. Not because I don't love sweets—I absolutely do—but because I know my body will thank me later. I'm not planning to give up sweetness completely though. Life without sweets sounds a little too sad, so I'm looking for healthier alternatives like dates.
Food has definitely been one of the highlights of these past few days.
There was homemade paneer butter masala and vegetable pulao that I somehow managed to cook in under an hour, which honestly shocked me more than anyone else. There was okra with roti and chaas, one of my favorite comfort meals. And of course, there were moments where my healthy eating plans met reality in the form of ramen, chips, ice cream, and random cravings.
Being a foodie and trying to maintain a calorie deficit feels like having two completely different personalities living inside me.
One wants a healthy lifestyle.
The other wants snacks.
Most days, they're still negotiating.
Apart from food, most of my time has gone into work.
Nothing glamorous. Just sitting down, getting things done, and reminding myself that consistency matters more than motivation. Some days I feel motivated, and some days I don't. But showing up anyway is probably what makes the difference in the long run.
I also spent time reading, going for walks, and doing small everyday things that usually don't seem important enough to mention. Yet somehow, when I look back, those are often the moments I remember the most.
One thing that hasn't changed is the weather.
I'm still waiting for the rain.
Every day I expect the clouds to finally do something, and every day the heat continues to remind me that summer isn't quite finished yet.
Maybe the rain is taking its time.
Or maybe it's building suspense.
Either way, I'm ready.
As these three days come to an end, I realize that not much happened on paper.
No big achievements.
No major adventures.
Just ordinary days filled with work, family, homemade meals, evening walks, and small moments of happiness.
And honestly, I think that's enough.
Until next time. 🌿
