June 10, 2026 | Idli, Iced Tea & Waiting for Rain
Today started exactly the same way most of my days do these days—I woke up early and went for my morning walk.
Honestly, I'm starting to enjoy this routine. There's something peaceful about beginning the day without rushing into it.
Today's breakfast was different though.
Mom had made idli, chutney, and sambar. The moment I saw the plate, I immediately remembered that random meme: "dosa, idli, sambar, chutney, chutney" and couldn't stop laughing to myself.
Anyways, I had my idlis with podi masala, sambar, and chutney, and it was so good. Soft idlis, flavorful sambar, and that extra kick from the podi masala—definitely one of those breakfasts that makes you want a second serving even when you're already full.
And of course, I followed it up with a cup of coffee. Creamy, comforting, and exactly how I like it.
Since I didn't have much work today, I spent some time helping my dad at the shop.
Nothing exciting happened there, but sometimes it's nice to step away from your usual routine and help out with small things.
By lunchtime, I was still surprisingly full from breakfast, so I skipped lunch altogether.
And yes, still no rain.
At this point, I'm personally requesting the clouds to do their job.
The heat is getting a little too comfortable here, and the mosquitoes seem to be having the time of their lives. Meanwhile, the rest of us are just waiting for the monsoon to make an appearance.
In the evening, I decided to make lemon iced tea at home.
It was my first time making it, and honestly, it turned out pretty good. The only problem was that I was too cautious with the ice cubes. I didn't want to overdo it and end up falling sick, so I added just a few.
Looking back, I think it would have tasted even better with more ice.
Maybe next time I'll be a little braver.
Dinner, however, was the highlight of the day.
We had dal dhokli, one of my absolute favorite comfort meals. It's a warm and hearty dish made with lentils and wheat flour dumplings simmered together in a flavorful, slightly sweet and spicy curry. Every family seems to have their own version, but for me, it tastes like home.
Some foods fill your stomach.
Dal dhokli fills your heart too.
The rest of the evening was quiet. I read a few pages of my book, relaxed for a while, and before I knew it, it was already 11 p.m.
Nothing extraordinary happened today.
No big achievements. No exciting adventures.
Just good food, family, a homemade iced tea experiment, a few pages of a book, and another day added to the diary.
And honestly, I think that's enough.
Good night. 🌙
