June 16, 2026 | Trying to Be Healthy While Being a Foodie
The morning started exactly the way I like it.
An early wake-up, my usual routine, some quiet time for myself, and a peaceful start to the day.
Lately, I've realized that having a routine makes a huge difference. The day just feels more organized when the morning starts well.
For breakfast, I had a two-egg omelette with black tea.
No sugar.
Yes, I'm actually trying to reduce my sugar intake these days.
Not because I suddenly became a health expert, but because I know too much sugar isn't doing me any favors.
The problem is that I genuinely love sweet things.
I don't think I could ever completely remove sweetness from my life.
So instead of trying to quit everything at once, I'm looking for healthier alternatives like dates and making small changes wherever I can.
After breakfast, I read the newspaper and got straight to work.
And honestly, the rest of the day was mostly about one thing:
Work.
Work.
And more work.
Not the most exciting thing to write about, but some days are simply like that.
For lunch, I had okra, roti, and chaas.
One of my favorite combinations.
It's simple, comforting, and somehow always leaves me feeling satisfied.
I've noticed that the meals I enjoy the most aren't necessarily the fancy ones. Most of the time, it's simple homemade food that keeps me happiest.
Of course, while trying to eat healthier, I'm also attempting to maintain a calorie deficit.
And of course, it's not going very well.
The biggest obstacle?
Me.
Because I'm a huge foodie.
I can plan healthy meals all day, but the moment something delicious appears in front of me, all those plans suddenly become negotiable.
In the afternoon, I had ramen.
Now before anyone judges me, I added vegetables to it.
So in my mind, that automatically made it healthier.
At least that's the story I'm telling myself.
Later in the evening, I went for a walk for about an hour.
And honestly, I felt really good afterward.
Sometimes a walk clears your head better than anything else.
By nighttime, I wasn't even planning on having dinner.
I wasn't particularly hungry and thought I'd just call it a day.
But Moms have a special talent.
They somehow know exactly when you've decided not to eat.
And before I knew it, Mom had served me rice.
So naturally, I ate it.
Resistance was futile.
And that was pretty much my day.
Nothing extraordinary happened.
No exciting adventures.
Just work, simple food, a long walk, and another reminder that trying to eat healthy is much harder when you're someone who genuinely loves food.
Still, one sugar-free tea at a time.
Good night. 🌙
